Have you ever wondered what science lessons looked like in this part of the world before Western leaders took a hold of them? Did you ever imagine our Native lessons would have a place in your classroom? I present my research on how we can indigenize science education in a way that is respectful to the history and context of the land, and our relationships with it. We tend to think of indigenous studies as an anthropology or history field, but I intend to share why I believe it belongs in the science classroom. We will find that indigenous studies are interdisciplinary by nature, and learn about how the knowledge and practice of Native American pedagogy may benefit our students and ourselves as teachers of these lands.
