ESL/Title III Consultant (EL Program Quality - West Region)
Ivanna Mann Thrower Anderson has served as an ESL/Title III Consultant with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction since 2009. She has worked with English language learners in the US, Korea, and China, for over 30 years, and has served students from the pre-K classroom through the offices of corporate presidents. The work she did as SIOP Coach in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system is featured in the Pearson SIOP Publication entitled Implementing the SIOP Model through Effective Professional Development and Coaching. In her current position, she focuses on supporting professional learning through the EL Support Team and on Dual Language/Immersion as the team Co-Lead. She is the immediate past president of the National Association of English Learner Program Administrators (NAELPA), formerly the National Council of State Title III Directors (NCSTIIID).
Ivanna has a BA in Psychology from North Carolina State University (NCSU) and a MAT in ESL from the School for International Training, Brattleboro, VT. She most recently obtained the DL/I Administrator Certificate from East Carolina University (ECU).
Since 2009, Ivanna Mann Thrower Anderson has served as an ESL/Title III Consultant, EL Support Team Lead and Dual Language/Immersion Co-Lead at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. She has worked with English language learners at Wake Technical Community College, NCSU, UNC Charlotte, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, as well as in Korea, and China.
